UNITY 2015 for Nottinghamshire City Council

On the 17th Feb, the culmination of 2 months work took place at the Nottingham Concert Hall with 80 odd individuals that I had tutored and rehearsed since the start of December to put together 2 tracks; one by U2 and Heroes by David Bowie. My role was to arrange and produce the tracks and make sure that all the people involved were fully up to scratch for the Showcase performance on the day. On the day it was an extraordinary thing and was a joy to behold.

this was the testimonial that I received from the organisers.. Warms the cockles..

“Angus has worked with County Youth Arts on many projects over the last couple of years, all with great success.

His contribution in particular to the major ‘Unity’ project has been superb, arranging and putting together two tracks
as a single performance and recorded piece, for a mass ensemble of around 80 young people from various parts of Nottinghamshire,
and then conducting and performing it at the Royal Concert Hall to a fantastic reaction.

The groups included Rock & Pop Musicians from various County Youth Arts projects, disabled singers from the Atmosphere Glee Choir, the Outwood Valley Academy Pop Choir, the York Drive Vocal group (Newark, looked after / in care / travellers young people), the Nottingham Gamelan group and the NPA Red Hot Band (Brass and Reeds swing band).

Throughout the project, Angus’ skill, ability and sheer enthusiasm for the project communicated brilliantly with the disparate and varying abilities of the groups, to create a magnificent and cohesive whole, all the more impressive within the compressed time frame and budget that many of our projects experience. Building on the first ‘Unity’ 40 strong project, which was successfully Showcased at Mansfield’s Palace Theatre, ‘Unity 2015′ scaled new heights and proved to be a major piece of creative participation with real impact for both the participants, organisers and the audience. A triumph!”

County Youth Arts is a great organisation that employs artists to work with both Talented and gifted young artists as well as disadvantaged and young people in need.

On this particular project I was working the following amazing artists:-

Ronica from http://www.nme.com/reviews/ronika/15346

Si Tew from True Thoughts Records/Atjazz recordshttp://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/62026e95-9ec7-4605-a958-67a277588c65

and Nina Smith from Rough Trade.http://www.leftlion.co.uk/audio.cfm/title/poddingham-presents…-nina-smith/id/144 .
